Welcome Remarks from the Congress President

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of our society, it is a great pleasure to invite you to the 21st Emirates Society Mental Health International Congress, which will take place on a virtual platform on May 20-22, 2021 under the theme of “Mental Health and Telemedicine”.

The reality of 2020 and the challenges that occurred during the coronavirus outbreak raise a question of what the future holds for mental health care and care delivery. The impact of the COVID-19 quarantine and stay-at-home measures has had an effect on the financial security, housing, relationships and employment for many of people and has led to an increase in emotional and psychological problems across the world. Advances in technology have contributed to the ubiquity of connectivity and the ability to have virtual anytime and anywhere mental health treatments. Today, telemedicine is one of the fastest growing sectors in healthcare. Specifically, COVID-19 has enhanced and accelerated the role that telemedicine plays within our healthcare system.

Telemedicine is the delivery of health care and the exchange of health-care information across distances. It is obvious that development and implementation of telemedicine has a lot of advantages and brings a great value for both practitioners and patients. Telemedicine make a big contribution in the fight against the mental health crisis.

This year’s theme is related to telemedicine and offers in-depth information on the new measures and emerging trends to address mental health issues using the current technology and the clinical competencies applicable in this practice. The congress aims at establishing the platform to exchange mental health telemedicine experiences, which will be delivered by International, regional and national experts’ key speakers from different health and academic institutes.

Join us at the virtual congress on 20-22 May 2021.
